Weekly Update
for the Week Ending
Friday, February 8
Dear
Room 15 Families,
We
are excited about Monday’s field trip to
Chinatown. It is a full day of fun
and energy. Please remember to have your
child dress in layers, pack a snack, have breakfast and wear comfortable shoes.
This
Wednesday, we will have our second (of two) Bake Sale to benefit RAICES.
Please visit this Sign Up Genius if you would like to join us at the sale. You can just send in baked goods (following
the guidelines included in the Sign Up Genius) with your child on Wednesday
morning if you can’t make it to the sale.
Last week’s sale was really successful.
Edna’s
amazing Young Authors’ Fair is
scheduled for March 29. This is such a
special annual event. Information will
be sent home this week.
All information is on the library website as well. Please visit the link below for details. There is also a link to print another entry slip.

Students
are invited to make Valentine’s Day
cards to share with each other on Thursday.
We will have time in class to do this.
In a separate email, I sent you a class list so that students can make
sure they have a card for each of their classmates.
•REVISION INQUIRY: We
would really love to have you
come in and share your experience about how you use mistakes in your

•We
reflected on what we have learned about our own grandparent and used that information
to write a new chapter (paragraph) of our grandparent biography.
•We
included a title page, Table of Contents and (optionally) an About the Author
page into our grandparent biography.
|
Math
|
•We
focused on approaches to solve multi-step word problems.
|
Science/Social
Studies
|
•We
started working on our scrapbook for the migration study.
•We
hosted Ms. Maghnani as she shared the story of her family’s migration from
India to Canada.
|
Other
stuff
|
•We
worked on Map of My Heart 2.0.
•We
started the first step of creating a collage of our family’s name.
•We
read and talked about what we might see during our upcoming field trip to
Chinatown.
