Week Ending June 13, 2019

Dear Room 15 Family, There is no doubt about it...I am going to miss your kids very much.  This was a special group of kids. These kids fiercely held onto their individuality while working to create a unified community this year.  Through writing, Morning Meetings, and Talking Circles, students shared what was important, what was problematic and the goals that we each had for ourself.  We know which one of us is the biggest Warriors fan. And who is a HUGE dog lover. We know which one of us loves all animals with a passion the rest just can’t match.  We know which one of us lives to dance and who is a daredevil on the slopes (ok, there’s more than one of those). Break dancing. Duke. Hockey. Marshmello. Basketball.  Airplanes. Lemons. We are a group with a wide range of passions. That’s true with most groups of kids.   What’s unique about the people in room 15 this past year was how genuinely interested we were in each other.  I am a big believer in the power of id

                        in room 15, we strive to be FOCUSED AND RELAXED Weekly Update for the Week Ending Friday, June 7                                                                                                                          Dear Room 15 Families, Yikes!   This is the final Weekly Update of the year.   I have had a really amazing year with your kids.   I loved hearing them become more and more skilled at articulating their feelings and questions as we learned together.   It seemed evident to me how kind these kids are to each other.   When misunderstandings came up, I was struck by how focused these kids were on solving the issue and not getting someone else in trouble.   In addition to the growing social comprehension of these children, I loved the way they were always up for a good time.   They seemed to understand, as I do, that school ought to be a place filled with friends ready to have fun together.   Never did I leave

                         in room 15, we strive to be FOCUSED AND RELAXED Weekly Update for the Week Ending Friday, May 31                                                                                                                          Dear Room 15 Families, •This THURSDAY is OPEN HOUSE .   We hope to see you between 6 – 7 pm in our room. •This Friday the second graders will be hiking up Horse Hill for some exercise, great views and celebration together.   Please make sure your child comes to school with comfortable shoes, a water bottle and a snack packed in light container/wrapping. •Next Wednesday , the second graders will enjoy our annual Second Grade Breakfast.   Each class is responsible for some part of this breakfast and everyone is welcome.   We will eating on Wednesday, June 12 from 9 am – 9:45 am.   We hope to see you there! •We have completed all homework for second grade this year.   However, it is ALWAYS a good
