Dear Room 15 Families,
Immigration Day!
Thank you so much for your help with Immigration Day.  There is no way this simulation could happen without your help at home and at school. 

Chinatown Drivers/Adults
Please be on the lookout this Wednesday for an email about our upcoming trip to Chinatown.  There will be details about helping your child prepare for the tour and lunch and information about drivers and parent chaperones.

What’s Coming Up:
•We will start a new math unit on “Addition and Subtraction Within 200 with Word Problems to 100.”

•We will continue to learn about important features of nonfiction text.

•We will continue to write All About books.

•We will begin a new classroom routine of word collection from our independent reading.  This will soon become a new part of our weekly homework routine.

•We will start a new Mystery Science unit on Properties of Matter.

There was no Math Review on Friday due to the end-of-unit quiz.

in room 15, we strive to be focused and relaxed Weekly Update for the Week Ending Friday, May 4 Student Treasures:   Something new… In Monday’s homework folder, you will find an envelope attached to an order form.   This is from a company that I recently read about in a teaching blog.   They create both hardcover and softcover books of student work that can be purchased (or not) by parents.   They do provide one free copy of a hardcover book to the classroom, which is why I opted to try it out.   The books will not be processed without a returned order form from every student.   Please do not feel any obligation to purchase a book, but you DO need to complete the order form and return it to me in the envelope as soon as possible in order for the company to process our project.   I need to mail all student materials and order forms by Thursday at the latest.   Please ask me if you have any questions after you see the information that is included in Monday’s h

Week Ending May 11

in room 15, we strive to be focused and relaxed Weekly Update for the Week Ending Friday, May 11 “Mindfulness Ambassadors” Beginning this week, we will invite two fourth grade students into our room at the start of each day to lead us in a very brief (<10mins) mindfulness exercise.   These students have been chosen by their teacher and have volunteered to share what they have learned about how being more mindful can lead to increased success both inside and outside of the classroom.   We are excited to learn from our fourth-grade peers.                                                       in room 15, we strive to be FOCUSED AND RELAXED Weekly Update for the Week Ending Friday, December 7                                                                                                                            Dear Room 15 Families,                   I want to thank you in advance for your help with the Grandparent Interviews that is the priority homework for the upcoming week.   As I mentioned in Friday’s email, we “practiced” this interview process (student ASKS question, LISTENS to response and THINKS about what their grandparent said to make sure it makes sense to them while adult writes down the answers) using FaceTime with my mom.
