Weekly Update for the Week Ending
Friday, March 30

MATERIALS for Rainforest
Every year, the second grade classrooms are transformed into “rainforests” as an important part our rainforest study.  This year, the kids have grand ideas about how they want to their room 15 rainforest to look.  They generated a “wish list” of items they want to use.  Please look around your home for any of these that you might be able to spare.  Talk with your child and see what other materials you have that you think we might be able to put to use.
•Large cardboard boxes
•Large pieces of green fabric
•Green rope or string
•Green plastic
•Brown paper packaging (like you find in some Amazon shipments)

These can just be delivered via your child or arranged with me if it’s too large (word is, someone might be getting a new fridge that might come in a HUGE box—exciting for many reasons)!

Family Heritage Night
Thank you so much for joining last week’s Family Heritage Night.  It was a delicious and important way to culminate our study of families.  It was so wonderful to see the kids (and adults) enjoy this simple and seemingly old-fashioned school community event.

•Thank you for using the sign up genius link (http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c094ba4af28a20-room1 ) to help us out with centers.

Room 15 has a blog!  Please visit https://focusedandrelaxed.blogspot.com/ to check out our Daily Briefings.  In addition, you will find a collection of the Weekly Updates.

What’s Coming Up:
•We will reinstate Work on Writing as part of our regular weekly schedule.

•We will continue to use the “Stacking Way” of solving both addition and subtraction problems.

•We learn about animal classification and adaptations in two Mystery Science lessons.

•We will choose our rainforest animal to study.

•We will begin to design/construct our rainforest.

•We will be writing goodbye messages to Ms. Hunter on special stationery (we were waiting for our notecards to arrive).
