Google Slides:  How You Can Help at Home
We have started to use what we’ve learned from our rainforest research to create four slides on Google Slides.  Using Google Slides allows students to easily work on this both at school and at home.  Everything that students NEED to complete will be done at school.  However, many students are enjoying fussing with fonts, colors and images.  This is fine to do at home.
There are a few guidelines to keep in mind and those are listed below.  Feel free to help your child, if s/he wants it.  Otherwise, we will be doing all of the work on this at school (unless you get a message from me requesting your help).  We will be sharing our finished slide show at Open House, so your child may want to keep his/her work a secret.  Others may be excited to share with you right away.  Follow the lead of your child.

•We are staying away from cursive font, since many of us won’t be able to read that easily.
•It’s pretty easy to start to add TOO MANY things on a slide and then it’s hard for the reader to learn what you are teaching them.  Make sure each slide is easy to learn from.
•IF you choose to share your slide with someone, you should NEVER give them editing rights because they might accidentally (of course) make changes to your slide.
•This whole process is not easy for everyone.  When something gets tricky or frustrating, don’t give and don’t get too upset.  We can always fix it.  This is a chance to learn something new and practice.  Hopefully, you can find the fun in that process.

It’s never too late to build excitement and knowledge by sharing resources and bits of information with your child about his/her animal.
FIELD TRIP this FRIDAY
We are excited to go to California Academy of Sciences.  Thank you for stepping up to drive and chaperone.  Obviously, we could not do this without YOU.  I have contacted all drivers/chaperones.  We will leave campus on Friday by 9:00 am and should be back before 1:00pm.  Students should bring a packed lunch.  Details for adults that are joining us will be waiting for you on Friday morning.  Please plan to be in room 15 by 8:50 (or just hang out with us at drop off).

Attention Game Info, as requested
Many students requested that I resend to you information about the Attention Game.  So…I sent out the email again.  Check your inbox.

Makers’ Night
PTA is sponsoring a Makers’ Night on May, 9th.  Please be on the lookout for more information about this from the PTA.

•Thank you for using the sign up genius link (http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c094ba4af28a20-room1 ) to help us out with centers.

Room 15 has a blog!  Please visit https://focusedandrelaxed.blogspot.com/ to check out our Daily Briefings.  In addition, you will find a collection of the Weekly Updates.

What’s Coming Up:
•We will create a watercolor image of our rainforest animal.

•We will meet in our critique groups once more to refine our scientific illustrations of our rainforest animal.

•We will update our Second Grade Timelines for the month of April.

•We will begin to turn our research into two distinct paragraphs.

•We will continue to build onto our growing rainforest in our classroom.  It’s a jungle in there!
