Weekly Update for the Week Ending
Friday, March 9
Save the Date
Family Heritage Night
On Thursday, March 29, you
are invited to join us for our annual 2nd grade Family Heritage
Night. There, you will see the
culmination of some of the learning we have been doing about our families and
immigration. Our grandparent biographies
will also be on display, as will artwork we have done inspired the photo of
your child’s grandparent. Our scrapbook,
which includes memories and artifacts from our study leading up to Immigration
Day, as well our current study of our families’ histories, will also be
available to see for the first time.
Details will follow, but
please add the evening of March 29 to your calendars.
We Need YOUR Help
It really is
important that students use pencil and their best handwriting on the homework that they are assigned. Using a pencil increases legibility, provide
a real context for proofreading/revision, helps to set up study skills and
builds more experience following directions.
It’s a small but important
piece of the mosaic of creating purposeful and focused students. I do realize that it may seem like “No pens on homework!” is a somewhat
arbitrary holdover from a time gone by, but I really do believe it’s important.
Progress Reports sent home last Thursday
I heard of one “clerical
error” regarding a family not receiving their child’s progress report on Thursday. Please let me know if you did not receive
your child’s report. I hope the mistake
was an isolated incident. Yikes!
